MOSCOW, Aug 4 (PRIME) -- More than a third of all leaks of personal data related to COVID-19, of people infected with the virus or quarantined, occurred in Russia in January–June, daily Izvestiya reported on Tuesday, citing information security group InfoWatch.
There were 72 incidents revealed in January–June, including 25 in Russia.
In umber terms, the situation looked better: there were 3.43 million people affected by the leaks in the world, while there were only 35,500 such people in Russia.
InfoWatch’s analytics head Andrei Arsentyev said most of the cases were leaks of data of certain people or lists of several dozen or hundreds of people.
In Russia, all the leaks happened through the fault of the people with access to information resources of institutions, like hospitals and airports. On the global scale, three quarters of leaks were caused by the same reasons, while another widely spread reason was hacker attacks.
